A Human Mosaic in the Muslim Quarter

Mugrabis, Afghanis, Africans, and Gypsies form part of a diverse and fascinating Muslim mosaic. Let us tour the Muslim Quarter in the tracks of the people who live there today.

Jerusalem drew Muslim believers from all over the world. During the hundreds of years of Muslim rule, diverse ethnic groups from different countries made their homes here. A delicate and intricate social fabric was formed in the Muslim Quarter, the largest of the four Old City quarters.

We will embark on a tour that tells the tales of today’s inhabitants and we will learn a little bit about their world and lifestyles.

The sites of the tour include Flowers Gate, Hagai Street, and the Street of the Chain.
